Obama and Cecile’s Caricature of the American Woman

at Catholic Online

Cecile Richards has a new gig.  At least until November 6.  She’s left her day job in order to campaign full-time for her BFF, Barack Obama, saying that all our daughters’ futures are at stake. (Just curious, Cecile: does that include our daughters in the womb, too? You know, the ones who are often killed just because they’re girls? Oh, I forgot; you don’t like to talk about them.)

Planned Parenthood pays her an annual salary of over $400k, but of course, PP simply could not survive and continue to do all their “philanthropic” work of providing women with comprehensive health care without the generous funding they get from taxpayers, to the tune of $550 million dollars a year. (Wherever would they get revenue from if not the Federal government?)

Once more, for the record: Planned Parenthood does not now, nor have they ever provided a single woman with a mammogram. There’s not one PP clinic in the country that can give a woman a mammogram. Yet once again, Barack Obama perpetuated that myth during the last debate because it serves the false narrative that women everywhere will die without PP. And of course, no one in the Obama-media bothered to tell the truth.

Planned Parenthood is not a network of health care clinics serving women out of the goodness of their hearts. It is the world’s largest abortion mill. They exist to perform abortions, period. If tomorrow they could no longer kill babies, then tomorrow they would close their doors. Does anyone seriously believe otherwise? There are no million dollar profits in adoption referrals, or Pap smears, or manual breast exams, or STD testing, or condom distribution. But there are billions of dollars to be made from terminating babies.

Every dollar they make is stained with innocent blood. Every dollar of ours that they take is also blood-stained. No matter what they claim they use it for, it helps them kill babies because that’s where this so-called non-profit’s profits come from.

Now Cecile is scared witless that Romney will defeat her better half, so she has put aside her other job in order to concentrate on her real job — protecting Planned Parenthood’s federal gravy train and perhaps her own cushy salary. Doesn’t anyone else find it slimy that the CEO of a industry that gets $550 million dollars of federal tax dollars every year is now openly campaigning for the Presidential candidate who has used every ounce of his own political capital to protect her organization from losing that federal funding?

For now til the election, Cecile will rant about the supposed misogynist policies of Romney/Ryan and how they want to take women backward 40 years and how they want to deny women basic healthcare, and blah, blah, blah. She will paint another layer on the portrait of the American woman that she and Obama and every other pro-abortion Democrat has been holding up as the only true picture of women today.

Quite frankly, Cecile, (to use a phrase you love) I’ve had quite enough, more than enough, of the vulgar caricature of the American woman being presented by you and Planned Parenthood and all your liberal feminist friends, Obama and his administration, and the manipulative, cowardly, dishonest institution we used to call the Press.

FOR THE RECORD: First, don’t any of you dare reduce me to my “lady parts.” You wanna talk about sexist remarks? That one takes the cake, and the irony is that “women” are the ones spouting it. So much for the value of our intellect, ladies. All that really matters is our vagina.

Speaking of vaginas, stop dressing up in vagina costumes already. It’s gross and childish and makes you look like a complete idiot. You’re only furthering the idea that women are nothing more than vaginas. Grow up.

For heaven’s sake, stop making political ads with naked women holding signs in front of their bodies. Again, you’re the ones portraying women as merely physical, sexual objects reduced to reproductive organs, and you’re blaming Republican MEN for this?

Above all, don’t you dare — and I mean don’t you DARE — tell me that my freedom, my success, my autonomy, my happiness, my life is found in executing my own children. Don’t you dare tell me that I can only be who I’m meant to be and have the life I want if I literally tear my babies into pieces. Terminating my children is not the mark of my liberation. Do not tell me that the womb must also be a child’s death chamber in order for me to be wholly free. Don’t you dare insist that women are only empowered when they can snuff out the lives of their own sons and daughters.

Abortion is NOT health care! No procedure that intentionally leaves a human being dead can be considered health care. Abortion is the biggest lie, the greatest scam ever foisted on women.

Hollywood celebrities like Eva Longoria, Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansson, Kyra Sedwick, and so many others are busy demeaning women — like me — who aren’t towing the liberal, pro-abortion feminist line with the requisite enthusiasm (or any enthusiasm at all, thank you). We’re stupid not to vote for Obama. We’re hurting women by voting for Romney/Ryan. They publish crude tweets calling us disgusting, belittling names. Refusal to embrace abortion and contraception cannot be tolerated, so they resort to mean-girl tactics.

Stop telling the world that the normal biological functions of the female body require carcinogenic hormonal steroids in order to be managed effectively. Fertility is not a disease! Pregnancy is not an illness or a malfunction! I do not need nor do I desire your lousy, cancer-causing contraceptive drugs, and I refuse to pay for yours. You have no right to demand that I or anyone else subsidize your sexual habits. You want freedom? Fine — pay for your own contraception if you can’t live without it. Don’t you dare demand that I do, or that my Church bow to your petulant demands. You’re the ones screaming for the government to get out of your bedrooms — you can’t have it both ways.

And by the way, pay attention to the lunacy of your own hypocrisy: you demand environmental purity for the sake of protecting the planet, but you’re dogmatically insistent on polluting the female body with pills and devices that cause all sorts of health problems and even permanent physical damage. I guess the only environment you can still poison with impunity these days is a woman’s body.

Next, your shrill and whiny cry of a “war on women” here in America is just about the stupidest, most vain and arrogant display of “victimhood” I’ve ever seen. Apparently, none of you have paid any attention to what goes on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and even right here in America at the hands of Islamic men. You women are college-educated and degreed; you’re CEO’s; you’re lawyers and doctors and engineers; you’re professors and diplomats and Governors and Senators. You’re Heads of State and international political players. You can be and do anything you want. You’re FREE. And you’re seriously going to say you’re under assault because Americans don’t want to be forced to pay for your birth control and abortions??

You’re not targeted for assassination in the name of “honor”, are you? You’re not whipped for talking to a man, are you? You’re not denied education or voting rights or independence because you’re considered less valuable than the family dog, are you? You’re not kept illiterate or shot in the head for daring to say that you deserve to know how to read a book, are you?

Tell your tale of woe to Malala Yousufzai. I dare you. Then for pity’s sake, shut up and grow up. There is a real war on women happening in the world, but it ain’t here in America. You insult and mock the very real suffering of girls and women who truly are under assault by oppressive, inhumane regimes and fanatics.

And don’t you dare compare the Catholic Church to the Taliban. I challenge every one of you to find another entity on the planet that does more every single day to feed, clothe, shelter, give medical care and assistance, to educate, to rescue from harm, to serve the poor and underprivileged, and to fight for the human rights of women and children than the Catholic Church and all Her faithful. Your pathetic rants about the so-called oppression of the Church reveal your dishonesty and ulterior motives. The Church proclaims the dignity and humanity of ALL women, including girls in the womb. You cannot say as much.

Here’s a new portrait for you: I am an American woman well-informed on the issues and I vote. I believe in the sanctity of all human life and I recognize the humanity of the child in the womb. I utterly reject any so-called “right” to kill that child. I reject your harmful contraceptive drugs and devices and I refuse to consider my fertility a disease, nor will I demand anyone else pay for “birth control.”

I understand that freedom requires personal responsibility, not taxpayer subsidy. I’m smart enough to see through the lies and euphemisms and sophistry of the abortion industry and all its political operatives (like you, Cecile, and you, Obama). I know who the champions of women’s rights truly are, and you are not them. I know what freedom really means and what it really costs, and what you’re selling is slavery and death. No thanks. You do not speak for me.

P.S. Hey Whoopi, Joy, and Barbara: I’m waiting for my invitation to come on “The View” and present this view. Waiting…

Caroline Kennedy’s False Witness: Who Will Speak for the Church?

at Catholic Online

There were a lot of bad speeches at the Democratic National Convention, but Caroline Kennedy’s speech was the low point in many ways.

Caroline Kennedy got up on a national stage and used her professed Catholic faith to justify and actually demand the preservation of grave evils that the Church explicitly condemns. She twisted Catholicism into a pretzel to suit her own apostasy. She presented lies for the truth, and tried to justify it with her Catholic faith.

I’ve been hoping to hear some strongly-worded corrections from our stellar priests, bishops, and cardinals since that night, but unless I’ve missed it, so far I’ve seen nothing. Are we wrong to expect a public condemnation of Caroline Kennedy’s words from our church leaders? And by the same token, are we remiss in voicing that public condemnation ourselves?

Ms. Kennedy, I know you grew up Catholic. I know you were raised in the Church. I won’t speculate on the exact nature of your faith, but I can say this for certain: What you professed that night at the DNC was NOT Catholic. You seem to indeed have a very specific creed, but it’s not the creed of the Catholic Church.

Your speech that night was scandalous. There’s no other word for it. It was disgraceful. On the one hand, it made me furious, and on the other hand, it made me feel very sorry for you.

I am furious with you and every other public “Catholic” in this country who makes a mockery of our faith by living in utter contradiction of what the Church teaches while claiming to love the Church, love your faith, and take your faith seriously. You obstinately persist in championing grave and intrinsic evil, while wearing your ashes on your forehead as an empty display of authenticity. You claim to love the Church you persecute and blaspheme at every turn. You claim membership of a Body you despise through your actions.

When you champion the “right” to kill the child in the womb, you despise the Body of Christ. When you champion the “right” to treat the child in the womb as a thing rather than a person, you despise the Christ Child. When you champion the demise of true marriage through its redefinition, you despise the Holy Family. When you champion the demise of the family by casting aside the primacy of mother and fathers in raising children, you despise the Child Jesus. When you champion the proliferation of contraception and require your own Church to violate Her unchangeable teachings about the sanctity and dignity of human life and marital love, you despise the blessed humanity of Christ.

You do not correctly represent the Church when you make such scandalous remarks as you did that night. You may wish to fashion a Catholic Church more to your liking, but you don’t have that authority or ability, thank the Lord.

I pity you that you have not yet encountered the true Faith in which you were brought up. I’m sorry you haven’t yet realized what a treasure you could have. It is rich and beautiful and merciful and miraculous, and you don’t know that. I hope someday you will. In the meantime, I cannot let your remarks or your version of Catholicism stand unchallenged.

You and Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Kathleen Sebelius and John Kerry and on and on… you do not speak for the Church. You do not serve the Church. You don’t seek to build up the Church but to weaken Her and contradict Her and remake Her in your own image. You make your scandal public so I make my confrontation public as well. I’m tired of all you wolves in sheep’s clothing making yourselves at home in my Church while you work to scatter and devour.

If the Catholic Church is not to your liking, then leave and find a church that is. If the doctrine of the Catholic faith is not palatable to you then go find a doctrine that is. No one’s forcing you to believe or to stay against your will. Be honest for once. You know quite well that your personal doctrine is diametrically opposed to the truth of Church teaching. You know that what you call good the Church rightly calls evil. You know that what you celebrate as progress the Church rightly calls immoral and destructive.

Your facade is pitiful and insulting. I’m sick to death of hearing you embrace evil and call it a “right” that must not be lost. My blood boils when you advocate for evil while waving your little Catholic banner.

So while I’m sitting here waiting for a bishop or other Church leader to publicly renounce your remarks, I started wondering if perhaps they were all waiting for me. And thousands of other Catholic women just like me.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, nor am I ashamed of His Body on earth, the Church, and I will gladly profess and live the Truth and the Faith that you spit on with your betrayal. I will fight for the life of the child in the womb, for the sanctity of all human life, and for true marriage between husband and wife for life.

Perhaps our leaders are waiting for Catholic pewsitters to stiffen their spines a little and take a public stand for their faith. We cannot always wait for bishops to sound the charge. Each one of us has the horn in his hand as well. What are we waiting for?

We cannot take for granted that our Church leaders’ words will be enough. Their voice is strong and powerful and irreplaceable, yet it does not give us permission to be mute. Jesus felt pity for the people of His time, calling them “sheep without a shepherd.” Well, you know what? The last few years we have seen leader after leader, bishop after bishop, priest after priest boldly defend the Church and Her teachings as they should; they’ve used their gifts and their words to instruct the faithful and to teach and inspire. Perhaps what we now suffer from is shepherds without sheep.

What would happen if Catholic women across America rejected Caroline Kennedy’s version of “rights” and truths, and instead publicly witnessed to the true doctrine of their Church? What would happen if Catholic women embraced chastity and virtue instead of Planned Parenthood? What would happen if Catholic couples across America rejected the culture of death with all its abortion and contraception and instead gave public witness to the power of life-giving love?

It was not the votes of bishops and cardinals that ushered in the current administration with its ceaseless devotion to abortion and love-affair with Planned Parenthood; contraception; same-sex “marriage”; and assault on Religious freedom. It was the votes of the sheep! If polls are to be believed these days, it seems those sheep have learned nothing at all, and are poised to once again extend their support to the man and the party that glories in killing the child in the womb, along with redefining marriage and elevating homosexual sex to something righteous; and punishing the Catholic Church and the faithful for being Catholic.

Perhaps our leaders are hoarse from screaming at sheep who refuse to listen. Perhaps they’re tired of putting up with phony Catholics and impotent Catholics and cultural Catholics who really couldn’t care less what the Church teaches. Perhaps they’re heartbroken that so many Catholics can’t even be bothered to show up.

Perhaps, like me, they’re also angry that so many Catholics make a mockery of the faith by openly denying what the Church teaches and openly advocating for intrinsic evils. If they are, I admit I’d love to hear them express their outrage more often. I’d love to see public scandal answered publicly and corrected publicly every time.

Whether I get my wish is not the point. The point is, it has always been up to you and me to be salt and light in our culture. It is up to us to speak the truth and live the truth and confront evil in our midst with courage. It’s up to you and me to live an authentic faith. It’s up to you and me to answer Caroline Kennedy and the others and bring their false witness to shame with our own genuine witness.

Caroline Kennedy et al only have the nerve to do what they do because sadly there are a lot of sheep who applaud and march with them. They are lost sheep, all of them. They will not benefit from our timidity or lukewarmness. It’s time to light the fire and you and I are holding the match.

Pray continually for our Church leaders here in America. They need our support and the covering of our prayers. They also need us to take ownership of our faith and act like the militant Church we’re supposed to be. Just as we wait for inspiration from them, so they need some enthusiasm from us. It is a laborious task indeed to lead people who stick their finger in your eye.

Ashley Judd Video Mocks Abortion, Rick Santorum: Women of Virtue Need to Raise the Standard

at Catholic Online

The juvenile and malicious video featuring Ashley Judd on the FunnyorDie website (“Rick Santorum Aborts Presidential Campaign”) immediately brought to mind my favorite quote from Archbishop Fulton Sheen:

“To a great extent the level of any civilization is the level of its womanhood. When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women.”

O, how the lovely have fallen, and what a grotesque crop they’ve sown. Indeed, what passes for womanhood in our society today is nothing but a cheap, crass knock-off of the original; a crude and sloppy hack painting being sold as the masterpiece. The modern-day “feminist” woman foolishly champions faithlessness, promiscuity, contraception, and abortion and she degrades herself in the process. This latest evidence of just how far women have sunk is not only sad, but alarming.

The stars of the “choice” universe have gone way, way beyond their worn-out euphemisms and are now embracing shameless mockery. Ashley Judd and crew have made themselves a little video (how clever and funny they are!) that mocks the act of killing babies in the womb. They mock the violence of stopping the heartbeat of a child. Ha ha ha ha!! What a hilarious analogy they’ve drawn by comparing an abortion to Rick Santorum’s suspended Presidential campaign, if you’re someone who finds dead babies and wounded mothers hilarious. Apparently they do.

Babies are meaningless, doncha know. What matters is insulting and smearing the name of a faithful husband and father who happens to believe that every human life is sacred and deserving of protection. He’s a man, and worse, a conservative, Catholic man; therefore, he has no right to any opinion or belief about the legalized baby killing we call “reproductive freedom.” In fact, men have no say whatsoever unless they’re going to pipe up in favor of exterminating babies.

So this is what we’ve come to? This is the present and future of “feminism” in America? Women openly mocking the deaths of their own children; deaths fought long and hard for; deaths campaigned and paid for; deaths celebrated as “freedom” and “rights” for women? I’d say that’s officially the bottom, folks. There’s nowhere lower to sink. That’s as pathetic and wicked as it gets.

So now that we’ve seen the bottom, it’s time to work our way up. Women own this mess, and we must be the ones to correct it, through the mercy and power of God. We have a vile legacy behind us. It’s rooted deeply in the psyche and hearts of our entire culture. Women opened the door and welcomed the enemy inside because he called himself freedom and “choice” and we were stupid and selfish enough to believe it. Now the equilibrium of our society will never, ever be restored until women get serious about raising the level of womanhood in our culture again.

Not only are men the enemy, but children are commodities now. We manufacture them, buy them, sell them, store them in freezers, discard them if we don’t want them, and donate them for scientific study. We do all this because in our minds we own them. They are not persons to us, but property. They are merely “potential” that only will be realized if we so choose. Forget God – we hold the power of life and death in our hands now.

Our children are slaves to our wishes, and when they inconvenience us or disrupt our plans, we kill them and congratulate ourselves for our prudence. Perhaps we go on and on about how difficult the “choice” was for us, but ultimately, we kill them anyway because it was “the right thing to do.”

Yes, oh yes, nobody does delusion better than modern women. Mourning abortion is forbidden; denouncing or avoiding abortion is a betrayal of the collective; abortion “only when absolutely necessary” is wimpy and embarrassing; celebrating abortion, finding humor in abortion, adoring abortion – now that’s what “feminists” do these days! Look how far we’ve come! We don’t need to question or agonize over the “choice” to kill our babies – it’s a good thing. God help us.

I just recently saw the movie “Courageous” and that powerful final scene is still stuck in my head. As Adam Mitchell asked the men in his church that morning, I have to ask a similar question:

Where are you, women of virtue?

Where are the women who will not declare war on their own bodies? Where are the women who will not execute their own babies? Where are the women who will not throw away their purity? Where are the women who will not settle for men who abandon them? Where are the women who will exemplify the unique strengths of femininity, rather than remaking themselves into men?

Where are the women who will confront the lie that says women don’t need men? Where are the women who will model chastity, grace, gentleness, modesty, humility, self-control, and love?

Who will teach our daughters that they are more than a sexy body? Who will teach our daughters that their worth is not in their pretty face? Who will teach our daughters that happiness is not found in promiscuous sex? Who will teach our daughters that purity is not a restrictive idea from the past, but the shield that protects them and provides for their future?

I will.

Who will teach our daughters that a real man treasures a woman, gives his life for her, never violates her dignity, keeps his promises, is honorable in all his actions, and a man other than this is not worthy of her?
Who will teach our daughters that motherhood is not an oppressive burden, but a holy and rewarding vocation?
Who will teach our daughters that the child in the womb is not a parasite or an intruder but a human being whom no one has the “right” to kill?

I will.

Who will show our daughters the strength and blessing found in obeying God’s laws? By God’s grace, I will.
Who will live in stark contrast to the culture that says sex is power, men are the enemy, abortion is freedom, and purity is antiquated nonsense? By God’s grace, I will.

Who will teach them not to despise their virginity? Who will teach them that sex does not equal love? Who will teach them that beauty is fleeting and charm deceptive, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised? By God’s grace, I will.

Who will teach them to guard their hearts by using their heads? I will.
Who will teach them how to say “No” to momentary pleasure and “Yes” to wisdom and self-control? I will.
Who will teach them that even the best career will never surpass the significance of the vocation of motherhood? I will.

Who will show them what a balanced and harmonious partnership with a man looks like? I will.
Who will teach them to recognize and respect the differences between men and women? I will.
Who will show them the joy and fulfillment of giving themselves completely in marriage to one man? I will.
Who will tell them that freedom is found only on a narrow road and only in self-giving, not self-seeking? I will.

What about you?

Where are you, women of virtue? I know you’re out there, but you’ve got to come out of the shadows. You’ve got to stop being embarrassed by virtue, no matter who laughs or scoffs. You can’t wait for other women to lead the way. You’ve got to be louder than the voices that mock the ongoing massacre of babies in the name of “freedom.” You’ve got to be courageous enough to live a counter-cultural womanhood that testifies to Life.

The history of our civilization is being written right now by women. The abortion zealots have written too many chapters in violence and death.  It’s time for women of virtue to start rewriting the story.

On Beauty

at Catholic Online

Tonight a thoughtful conversation with my husband turned out this question:  If you asked a woman if she would rather her husband think she is incredibly beautiful or incredibly smart, which would she choose?

My husband said he was a bit surprised at my response.  I said that I really believe, in her heart of hearts, a woman would rather be incredibly beautiful to her man.  A woman wants to be desired and prized by her husband as the most beautiful woman he knows.

For beauty, I said, is the domain of women.  Beauty belongs to women.  Men and women can both be smart, capable, industrious, talented, clever, etc., but only women are beautiful.  We just don’t go around calling men beautiful!  I love and admire my husband and find him appealing, but I would never describe him as beautiful.  Men are to be handsome, strong, noble, charming, warrior-protectors, but they’re not beautiful.

That is God’s chosen gift to women.  I went on and said it’s surely no coincidence that God chose women to be co-creators of life with Him because new life is so beautiful!  It is further proof of God’s tenderness and affection for us; evidence that we occupy an especially-honored place in His creative heart.  He bestowed on His daughters the gift of beauty and equipped us to perpetuate beauty.

This is why it pains me so much to see so many women in our culture behaving so crudely.  Women seem to be losing all gentility and grace, choosing instead to be crass, vulgar, immodest, coarse, and unkempt.  A man behaving badly is boorish, perhaps even savage.  A woman behaving badly is just plain ugly.  They are profaning the glorious gift of beauty God gave them.  A flower should never be covered in dung.

Recall what Archbishop Sheen said about women:

“To a great extent the level of any civilization is the level of its womanhood. When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women.”

I already know that my husband thinks I’m smart.  If I thought he didn’t appreciate my intellect and abilities I never would have married him.  But I can’t lie – what my feminine heart really rejoices in are those moments when he gets that look in his eye, smiles at me and says, “How did I ever get such a beautiful wife?”

This doesn’t mean a woman’s beauty is merely physical – far from it!  The most outwardly gorgeous woman in the world, if her heart is cruel and vain, and her manner is vile is not beautiful.  The delicate and tender characteristics of femininity are what make a woman beautiful, as well as her heart.  You could say character is the stem on which beauty blooms.  Yet we shouldn’t discount the value of a lovely appearance, either.  There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the rose or the lily.

This is what the male-female dance is all about: the contrast between a man’s strength and a woman’s beauty.  This is what we’re in terrible danger of losing forever as we try to annihilate gender differences under some delusion of “equality.”  God forbid we be perfectly, equitably the same!   How boring, how uninspired, how ugly that would be!

The Psalmist reminds us that beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.  I don’t think this contradicts what I’ve said; it reminds us that time and hardship may steal the beauty of our youth, but the love of the Lord makes a woman’s heart become ever more beautiful with time and that beauty will never be hidden and will never fade away.  The beauty we should carefully cultivate is a beautiful soul, but we needn’t despise the bloom in the process.

My beloved brought our conversation to a winning conclusion by telling me I was “B-squared.”  My puzzled look turned to a grin when he said, “Beautiful and brilliant.”  See – I told you men are supposed to be charming!
