The Screwtape Epilogue: Pastor Pens Letter Welcoming Planned Parenthood

The Screwtape Epilogue: Pastor Pens Letter Welcoming Planned Parenthood

screwtape_letters

The Rev. Walter Baer of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation in New Orleans has penned a letter that could be an epilogue from the C.S. Lewis classic. Screwtape would be proud of this one. The words practically slither off the screen.

Rev. Baer is pleased to welcome the new Planned Parenthood clinic to his area, and wishes to extend his heartfelt support for the clinic and thank them for all the good service they will provide his community. He writes:

“I write to express my support for the right of the clinic to be there and to serve the reproductive needs of our community.” (italics mine)

The business that kills babies for profit has a right to exist? (But those babies do not.)

In the earliest days of Christianity, the Christians set themselves apart from the rest of their culture in many ways, in particular, they refused to expose their infants. They refused to set the “unwanted” or “unplanned” infants on rocks in the desert heat to be scorched and picked apart by animals and birds of prey. But you, Rev. Baer, support the right of the clinic that is the modern-day equivalent of that barbaric ancient practice. And you consider that Christian behavior?

“Lack of access to contraception can be among the chief causes of abortion, to which some are forced to turn in tragic cases.”

First, this myth that contraception is hard to come by is absurd and not worthy of any intelligent person. Birth control is widely available and ridiculously easy to access. The only “lack” is the will of contraception-using women to pay for it themselves.

Second, statistically more than half of women seeking an abortion were using contraception when they became pregnant. More than 25% of women have had more than one abortion, while using contraception. Clearly, contraception is not the answer to reducing elective abortions.

Finally, you are right, Rev. Baer, to say that some women are forced into abortion. Many, many women are coerced and bullied into abortion by family members or partners, and underage girls are literally forced into having abortions by their adult abusers. Or have you not heard?

The very organization you warmly welcome into your community has a history of covering up child rape. They are in it for the money, after all, and not interested in stopping the flow of pregnant girls into their clinics. Who cares about child rape? Who really cares about those girls? Just kill their babies and send them back to their abusers. Just means more money down the road.

“The church supports the right of a woman to make her own choices in these matters, while rejecting abortion as a means of birth control or mere convenience.”

Do fathers have any rights, Rev. Baer? Does the child have any right? Say, to live?

“The official position of our church is that all human life is sacred from its inception until death.”

Sacred, but disposable? Sacred, but not worthy of protection? Sacred, but having no right to exist? Sacred, but not so sacred that it can’t be “terminated” at will? A very strange definition of sacred, indeed.

“While we acknowledge that in this country, it is the legal right of every woman to have a medically safe abortion, as Christians we believe strongly that if this right is exercised, it should be used only in extreme situations.”

Planned Parenthood does not make millions of dollars every year off the “extreme situations.” Abortion is their endless gravy train. No reason to abort is a bad reason for them.

“We emphatically oppose abortion as a means of birth control, family planning, sex selection or any reason of mere convenience.”

Why? Isn’t it a woman’s reproductive right? Who decides what is “mere convenience” anyway? And who are you to limit a woman’s exercise of her rights? Now you want to set moral restrictions on this precious “right”?

“The Episcopal Church expresses its unequivocal opposition to any legislative, executive or judicial action on the part of local, state or national governments that abridges the right of a woman to reach an informed decision about the termination of pregnancy or that would limit the access of a woman to safe means of acting on her decision.”  (italics mine)

So, which is it, Reverend? You can’t have it both ways. Either you support, unequivocally, a woman’s unrestricted “right” to abortion at any time for any reason, or you don’t. You can’t place your own ethical restrictions on the decision to abort while still insisting that local, state and national governments cannot do the same.

Now for Rev. Baer’s real money-line. This is the one that truly gives him away.

“As a parish church that is named for the most wondrous conception in history, we welcome the Planned Parenthood clinic to the neighborhood. It will serve a very important role in education, health screenings, contraception, and, when necessary, a safe place for the termination of a pregnancy.” (italics mine)

First, when is it necessary to kill a child, Rev. Baer? Tell me. Tell me when it is necessary to kill a defenseless and innocent child? I want to know.

Second, you are nothing more than a coward hiding behind the euphemisms of the culture of death. You speak of terminating a pregnancy as though there is no life being terminated. You ignore the child and the murder of that child. You disregard the humanity of the child in the womb and speak only of pregnancy. There is no such thing as pregnancy without the existence of a new human being; a human child created by the God you claim to know and worship. You claim for yourself the right to determine who lives and who dies.

And for the record, childbirth successfully terminates pregnancy, without killing.

But for me, Reverend, what makes your letter nothing but utterly wicked is your attempt to correlate the Divine conception of the Son of God in the immaculate womb of Mary with the killing-for-profit, the preying upon innocents, the destruction of helpless, tiny children done by Planned Parenthood every single day.

In that, the serpent is revealed. Satan is terrified of the Virgin Mother of God, for from her came the Incarnate Word that is his total defeat. He despises her humble fiat that ushered in the salvation of the world. It is truly wicked to twist and distort the Annunciation in order to mask the evil of Planned Parenthood and try to elevate it to some place of admiration.

What you have forgotten, Reverend, but what Satan has not, is that Mary’s foot is firmly, eternally atop his crushed head.

Yes, your words are purely wicked and your letter was written with the spirit and influence of the evil one. You are aiding and abetting a greedy, dishonest, predatory corporation. You have attempted to convey upon them the honor of good service and nobility, which makes you either pitifully deceived and blind or a stone-cold liar. Perhaps both.

I realize you’re hardly the only “Christian” pastor in America to support the evil of abortion, and I would say the same to anyone who professes to be a follower of Jesus Christ and a shepherd of souls. The blood of innocent children is on your hands. The agonizing wounds of untold numbers of mothers is partly yours to account for.

Women and children deserve far better than to be brutalized, exploited, and killed by abortion. You claim to be a servant of Christ — you have no excuse whatsoever for raising your voice in support of the slaughter of innocent children. You have no excuse whatsoever for not doing everything in your power to stop the slaughter.

How Can We Save Meriam Ibrahim? We Cannot Save Ourselves

Today was one of those last-straw days.

One of those days when I just despair of ever getting out from under the pile of spineless weasels who make up the ruling classes; or ever seeing certain nations in the world free of tyrants and thugs. There is nothing new under the sun, so it goes, and I know human history has always been littered with tyrants, thugs, and weasels, and the innocent have always suffered their oppression and greed.

Still, I yearn desperately for the kind of plain-spoken bluntness that many people would say is not diplomatic. Good thing I’m not a diplomat and never will be.

We just don’t have time anymore to dicker around with pleasantries and words that obscure the truth rather than speak it.

I am ashamed that women in my country consider it a war against them personally to have anyone say that free birth control is not a right they should be granted. It’s embarrassing that supposedly intelligent and educated females in America whine on national television about the cost of contraception and cry about the hardship it inflicts upon them to have to obtain it with their own money.

This may be the lowest point in human history, in that modern women consider abortion a sacred “right” which can never be infringed or regulated or limited in any way by anyone for any reason. A child has no safe refuge anymore; no sure advocate, not even in their mothers. Abortion has made women the ultimate despot. They demand to kill with impunity.

It is horrifyingly evil that America is a nation that kills babies willfully, knowingly, deliberately, and with celebration. We don’t terminate pregnancies. We don’t make reproductive choices. We kill babies in the womb. We kill the most vulnerable child. For profit. For “freedom.”

Now, to add even more stupefying illogic to injury, it seems we must address the tragedy of infant mortality by increasing access to abortion. The way to make sure they don’t die after birth is to kill them before birth. Got that?

We also kill the sick and elderly now. Judges rule from on-high that it must be done. We starve and dehydrate them to death. A slow and painful death. Because that’s “merciful.”

meriam ibrahimAgainst this shining backdrop of American values and morality, we and the rest of the free world sit twiddling our thumbs while barbarians in the Middle East are preparing to flog a woman for the crime of rejecting Islam. She may or may not survive her flogging. If she does, then once her newborn child is old enough to wean from nursing, they will execute Meriam Ibrahim for defying their tyrannical dictates and refusing to convert to Islam.

Our nation sits in virtual silence from the White House down. A few courageous souls have spoken up to defend Meriam and condemn what is happening to her, but to what avail? The people who have the political power to perhaps make a difference and rescue her from this gruesome and inhumane sentence seem to disappear amidst chirping crickets.

Around the world, much the same.

But is that fair, you ask? Perhaps the powerful people are working behind the scenes to free Meriam and we just don’t know it.  They’d better be! And they’d better hurry up.

It’s still not enough. Where are the leaders who will publicly say something like this:
“If you flog this woman, you are animals. You are barbaric, sadistic animals. You’re not keeping to a pure religion. You’re not obeying God. You’re not answering the dishonor of Islam. You’re just barbaric, sadistic animals. And if this is what your Islam preaches and requires, then it is a sadistic and barbaric religion that we condemn. You can keep your violent and bloodthirsty god. We want nothing to do with it because we actually love freedom, and we actually value human life. Including the lives of women and children.”
Wouldn’t that be refreshingly honest?

But as I’ve already pointed out, the reason the United States can’t make such a courageous statement is because we don’t actually value all human life. Some human life is quite disposable to us. We love freedom, alright, but not real freedom. We love the unrestrained license to do as we please.

So the clock ticks closer to Meriam being brutally flogged by men who are barbaric, sadistic animals. And American women whine and cry about the “war on women” here at home because they want their damned Pills and IUD’s for free. And they want abortions as “back-up” birth control when all those Pills and devices fail to prevent pregnancy. That way, when they don’t get what they originally wanted, they can still get what they want by killing someone who is utterly defenseless.

Just like Meriam.

Why isn’t the whole world down to its last straw? Why do civilized societies tolerate a culture that flogs women, kills them for the sake of “honor” and executes them for not obeying that culture’s religion?

Why do civilized societies kill their own babies? How can they stand by as their sons and daughters are torn from the womb in pieces? How can they sleep at night knowing their own nation is so morally bankrupt and barbaric? How can they face themselves knowing that they kill the elderly and sick under the premise of mercy and last wishes?

In a world of violent bullies, eventually everyone becomes a target.

That’s what happens while crickets chirp.

The Line We Can Live With? Just a Little Abortion, Please

at Catholic Online

If the Chicks on the Right had their way, people like me would leave the conservative tent because any position on abortion that doesn’t allow some room for some abortions under some circumstances is too extreme, too unrealistic, too whatever. Conservatism needs a makeover and I need to step aside and let the modern, moderate conservatives take over the message and the mechanics.

My husband calls it politics for politics’ sake.

They want to draw a more reasonable line. And sad to say, judging from the truckload of affirmative comments to their recent post, they’re not alone.

The Chicks will be happy to hear that I’ll be glad to shed the conservative label. It’s pretty meaningless now. I suppose it makes some distinction between me and a hard-left abortion-on-demand, nanny-government liberal, but that’s about all it does. It doesn’t encompass what I really believe, or what is really right. (I’m simply Catholic; a la Christ and His Church, not a la Pelosi and Biden.)

embryo-development

One of the Chicks, Mockarena, says that while she doesn’t dispute the science of when life begins, she has drawn her abortion line at a beating heart, or about 21 days past conception. From that point on, she says abortion is wrong. Before then, it’s not a problem and should be allowed, and in fact, encouraged through the use of Plan B/Morning After pills and widespread contraception. This would be a victory for conservatives, she claims, and would achieve the goal of reducing abortions in America. This is realistic, and that’s where we should be putting our efforts, says she. Those who disagree with her are unreasonable, extreme, and hurting the conservative cause.

To Mockarena, I have to ask one question: What makes your line any less arbitrary than the line the pro-abortionists have drawn? Their line is the moment after delivery when the cord is cut. Why is your line any better?

It’s really all about finding the line that makes us most comfortable. The line we feel lets us have the best of both sides of the thing we’re debating. (As if abortion has a good side…) The line where a desirable-enough outcome is achieved, even if it isn’t the truly moral or just outcome.

How much killing can we get away with without getting bloody? How much killing can we stomach and still sleep at night? How much power can we assert over another one who is powerless without seeming like a big bully, or tyrant, or heartless abuser ourselves?

How can we cheat a little and still be reputable? How can we have what we want without making the difficult sacrifice? How far can we push that line before we actually have to do the right thing?

Abortion is wrong. Period. Full stop.

Many conservatives will say they agree with me. But like Mockarena, then they’ll want to continue… “but we have to face reality. Abortion is legal, after all, and we’re not going to turn back the clock. So shouldn’t we concentrate our efforts on making abortion as rare and undesirable as possible? Shouldn’t we focus on reducing the number of abortions by championing contraception, including the Morning After pill? After all, women who’ve been raped or had unprotected sex should get emergency contraception immediately. Then they won’t need a real abortion later.”

(Allow me to introduce you to Kathleen Sebelius, Cecile Richards, and Sandra Fluke. I think you’ll all get along swimmingly.)

If more contraception was the key to fewer abortions, then more bars ought to be the solution to drunk-driving.

I’m not sure conservatives who make this argument are interested in justice or in what’s genuinely right or even factual. (First they need to stop getting their information from the Guttmacher Institute.) Perhaps they’re more interested in comfort, compromise, and popularity. They’re interested in politics.

But abortion is not a political issue. It’s the ultimate human rights issue; the true test of society’s morality and justice. People who can utter the word “need” in relation to abortion have not yet grasped what it’s all about. When is there ever a need to kill a child??

It’s about only one thing: the humanity of the child in the womb. It’s about recognizing that humanity even when it’s inconvenient to us and cramps our style; even when it alters our plans.

But admittedly, that’s a demanding position to take. That’s an all-or-nothing hill to die on, pardon the pun, and for too many people, that’s asking too much. They don’t really like abortion, and they don’t want to be lumped in with radical pro-abortionists, but they also want more flexibility than “no abortion, ever, period.”

So they draw their comfortable lines at their acceptable limit of destruction. They’ll tolerate this much, but no more, because after that it becomes wrong somehow that it wasn’t wrong before. Why? Well, just because they said so. On this side of the line, it feels okay. On the other side of the line, it seems wrong, so that’s the end of it. To hell with logic, science, and even morality if it disagrees with the line they’ve drawn. To hell with you if your line is different from theirs.

Trouble is, the line means nothing to the human souls being snuffed out. It’s of little comfort to the human person being flushed away.

We might be able to live with the line we’ve drawn, but it’s still killing them.

But since their faces can’t haunt us; their unformed bodies aren’t buried; since they didn’t suffer pain; since they were never aware of themselves and we were barely aware of them; their names were never known to us; their futures not even imagined… we think their loss doesn’t matter. We think their absence is meaningless and the responsibility for their deaths won’t be laid at our feet for eternity.

We are wrong to think so. We are no better than punk bullies picking on someone who is a bother to us in the present moment. We are self-anointed gods who believe we have authority over life and death, including someone else’s life and death. We are slave owners once again and the child in the womb is our property, so we think.

4-week-embryo-large

The line is actually very simple, yet very absolute.
The line is here: the child in the womb is a human person from the moment of conception, and has the right to live.

Any other line is purely an arbitrary one based on emotion, drawn in our own favor, while the child pays the price.

The Abolitionists in the 1800’s didn’t settle for partially-freed slaves who were almost always recognized as persons, except under certain conditions at certain times.

Neither should we who claim to be pro-life ever settle for any line that denies the humanity of the child in the womb in the early days and weeks of pregnancy, or at any time. To hell with politics.

Either we have the guts and the conviction to say the child is a human being at all times or we don’t.

That’s the line. It’s the only line that everyone can live with.

Obama and Cecile’s Caricature of the American Woman

at Catholic Online

Cecile Richards has a new gig.  At least until November 6.  She’s left her day job in order to campaign full-time for her BFF, Barack Obama, saying that all our daughters’ futures are at stake. (Just curious, Cecile: does that include our daughters in the womb, too? You know, the ones who are often killed just because they’re girls? Oh, I forgot; you don’t like to talk about them.)

Planned Parenthood pays her an annual salary of over $400k, but of course, PP simply could not survive and continue to do all their “philanthropic” work of providing women with comprehensive health care without the generous funding they get from taxpayers, to the tune of $550 million dollars a year. (Wherever would they get revenue from if not the Federal government?)

Once more, for the record: Planned Parenthood does not now, nor have they ever provided a single woman with a mammogram. There’s not one PP clinic in the country that can give a woman a mammogram. Yet once again, Barack Obama perpetuated that myth during the last debate because it serves the false narrative that women everywhere will die without PP. And of course, no one in the Obama-media bothered to tell the truth.

Planned Parenthood is not a network of health care clinics serving women out of the goodness of their hearts. It is the world’s largest abortion mill. They exist to perform abortions, period. If tomorrow they could no longer kill babies, then tomorrow they would close their doors. Does anyone seriously believe otherwise? There are no million dollar profits in adoption referrals, or Pap smears, or manual breast exams, or STD testing, or condom distribution. But there are billions of dollars to be made from terminating babies.

Every dollar they make is stained with innocent blood. Every dollar of ours that they take is also blood-stained. No matter what they claim they use it for, it helps them kill babies because that’s where this so-called non-profit’s profits come from.

Now Cecile is scared witless that Romney will defeat her better half, so she has put aside her other job in order to concentrate on her real job — protecting Planned Parenthood’s federal gravy train and perhaps her own cushy salary. Doesn’t anyone else find it slimy that the CEO of a industry that gets $550 million dollars of federal tax dollars every year is now openly campaigning for the Presidential candidate who has used every ounce of his own political capital to protect her organization from losing that federal funding?

For now til the election, Cecile will rant about the supposed misogynist policies of Romney/Ryan and how they want to take women backward 40 years and how they want to deny women basic healthcare, and blah, blah, blah. She will paint another layer on the portrait of the American woman that she and Obama and every other pro-abortion Democrat has been holding up as the only true picture of women today.

Quite frankly, Cecile, (to use a phrase you love) I’ve had quite enough, more than enough, of the vulgar caricature of the American woman being presented by you and Planned Parenthood and all your liberal feminist friends, Obama and his administration, and the manipulative, cowardly, dishonest institution we used to call the Press.

FOR THE RECORD: First, don’t any of you dare reduce me to my “lady parts.” You wanna talk about sexist remarks? That one takes the cake, and the irony is that “women” are the ones spouting it. So much for the value of our intellect, ladies. All that really matters is our vagina.

Speaking of vaginas, stop dressing up in vagina costumes already. It’s gross and childish and makes you look like a complete idiot. You’re only furthering the idea that women are nothing more than vaginas. Grow up.

For heaven’s sake, stop making political ads with naked women holding signs in front of their bodies. Again, you’re the ones portraying women as merely physical, sexual objects reduced to reproductive organs, and you’re blaming Republican MEN for this?

Above all, don’t you dare — and I mean don’t you DARE — tell me that my freedom, my success, my autonomy, my happiness, my life is found in executing my own children. Don’t you dare tell me that I can only be who I’m meant to be and have the life I want if I literally tear my babies into pieces. Terminating my children is not the mark of my liberation. Do not tell me that the womb must also be a child’s death chamber in order for me to be wholly free. Don’t you dare insist that women are only empowered when they can snuff out the lives of their own sons and daughters.

Abortion is NOT health care! No procedure that intentionally leaves a human being dead can be considered health care. Abortion is the biggest lie, the greatest scam ever foisted on women.

Hollywood celebrities like Eva Longoria, Meryl Streep, Scarlett Johansson, Kyra Sedwick, and so many others are busy demeaning women — like me — who aren’t towing the liberal, pro-abortion feminist line with the requisite enthusiasm (or any enthusiasm at all, thank you). We’re stupid not to vote for Obama. We’re hurting women by voting for Romney/Ryan. They publish crude tweets calling us disgusting, belittling names. Refusal to embrace abortion and contraception cannot be tolerated, so they resort to mean-girl tactics.

Stop telling the world that the normal biological functions of the female body require carcinogenic hormonal steroids in order to be managed effectively. Fertility is not a disease! Pregnancy is not an illness or a malfunction! I do not need nor do I desire your lousy, cancer-causing contraceptive drugs, and I refuse to pay for yours. You have no right to demand that I or anyone else subsidize your sexual habits. You want freedom? Fine — pay for your own contraception if you can’t live without it. Don’t you dare demand that I do, or that my Church bow to your petulant demands. You’re the ones screaming for the government to get out of your bedrooms — you can’t have it both ways.

And by the way, pay attention to the lunacy of your own hypocrisy: you demand environmental purity for the sake of protecting the planet, but you’re dogmatically insistent on polluting the female body with pills and devices that cause all sorts of health problems and even permanent physical damage. I guess the only environment you can still poison with impunity these days is a woman’s body.

Next, your shrill and whiny cry of a “war on women” here in America is just about the stupidest, most vain and arrogant display of “victimhood” I’ve ever seen. Apparently, none of you have paid any attention to what goes on in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and even right here in America at the hands of Islamic men. You women are college-educated and degreed; you’re CEO’s; you’re lawyers and doctors and engineers; you’re professors and diplomats and Governors and Senators. You’re Heads of State and international political players. You can be and do anything you want. You’re FREE. And you’re seriously going to say you’re under assault because Americans don’t want to be forced to pay for your birth control and abortions??

You’re not targeted for assassination in the name of “honor”, are you? You’re not whipped for talking to a man, are you? You’re not denied education or voting rights or independence because you’re considered less valuable than the family dog, are you? You’re not kept illiterate or shot in the head for daring to say that you deserve to know how to read a book, are you?

Tell your tale of woe to Malala Yousufzai. I dare you. Then for pity’s sake, shut up and grow up. There is a real war on women happening in the world, but it ain’t here in America. You insult and mock the very real suffering of girls and women who truly are under assault by oppressive, inhumane regimes and fanatics.

And don’t you dare compare the Catholic Church to the Taliban. I challenge every one of you to find another entity on the planet that does more every single day to feed, clothe, shelter, give medical care and assistance, to educate, to rescue from harm, to serve the poor and underprivileged, and to fight for the human rights of women and children than the Catholic Church and all Her faithful. Your pathetic rants about the so-called oppression of the Church reveal your dishonesty and ulterior motives. The Church proclaims the dignity and humanity of ALL women, including girls in the womb. You cannot say as much.

Here’s a new portrait for you: I am an American woman well-informed on the issues and I vote. I believe in the sanctity of all human life and I recognize the humanity of the child in the womb. I utterly reject any so-called “right” to kill that child. I reject your harmful contraceptive drugs and devices and I refuse to consider my fertility a disease, nor will I demand anyone else pay for “birth control.”

I understand that freedom requires personal responsibility, not taxpayer subsidy. I’m smart enough to see through the lies and euphemisms and sophistry of the abortion industry and all its political operatives (like you, Cecile, and you, Obama). I know who the champions of women’s rights truly are, and you are not them. I know what freedom really means and what it really costs, and what you’re selling is slavery and death. No thanks. You do not speak for me.

P.S. Hey Whoopi, Joy, and Barbara: I’m waiting for my invitation to come on “The View” and present this view. Waiting…

Memo to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: Right Kind of Woman Champions Life, not Contraception

at Catholic Online

I’m the wrong kind of woman. I guess I always knew it, and now it’s official. According to the decree of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, if ever I were to run for public office and be elected, it would not be a victory for women because I’m not the right kind of woman. Women like me don’t count at all. For anything. In fact, women like me are a detriment to the cause and must be kept out of public influence.

“I think we have to be cautious about who is, you know, just celebrating that a woman got elected to a particular office and make sure that we have women who are running and winning who are going to champion the causes of women — who are going to make the agenda that is important to women like equal pay for equal work and making sure that when it comes to fighting for middle class families and ensuring access to birth control and making sure that health care is a priority and that it’s affordable, making sure that access to education and higher education is a priority.”

“So, electing just any woman shouldn’t be the goal. Electing a woman who is going to make the issues important to women and families is really should be the focus and I don’t know if we made as much progress on that as we should.”

“It’s just so hard for me to grasp how they [Republicans] can be as anti-woman as they are,” she said, according to the Weekly Standard. “I think that the pushback and the guttural reaction from women against the Republicans’ agenda out of the gate, the war on women that the Republicans have been waging since they took over the House, I think is not only going to restore but help us exceed the president’s margin of victory in the next election.”

(At this point, I must attempt to restrain myself because believe me, I have some choice words for Ms. Schultz.)

Cut the crap, Ms. Schultz. This isn’t about fighting for middle class families or higher education. It’s about abortion and contraception, period. The code embedded in your little speech is about as subtle as a flashing neon sign: the only woman you want on Capitol Hill or any hill anywhere is a pro-abortion, Pill-pushing woman. The “feminist” agenda demands perfect worship at the altar of abortion. You know it and I know it. Planned Parenthood is your clubhouse.

The “progress” you seek is quite simply the reduction of women to available vaginas and sterile uteruses that welcome knives, scissors, forceps and vacuums as instruments of “freedom” when the obligatory prevention fails.

You don’t speak for me, Ms. Schultz. Your agenda is repugnant to me, and your ideas of progress for women are insulting to me. There are many, many women who feel as I do, and we are deserving of representation in Congress and state governments, and we vote. We are not a hindrance to women’s success or growth or rights. We think the girl in the womb is deserving of life and liberty, too. Why don’t you?

Equal pay for equal work has absolutely nothing to do with propping up Planned Parenthood and forcing people to subsidize contraception for every woman in America. Guess what? I don’t need your Pills or your condoms or your sterilizations. And I refuse to pay for any of that for anyone else. How ironic that while you’re stomping your foot demanding “choices” for women you want to deprive me of mine by mandating that I buy someone else’s birth control and pay for abortions.

Why must women’s sexual choices be subsidized by everyone else? How does that promote women’s independence? What happened to freedom? Didn’t anyone ever tell you that freedom isn’t free?

You and your boss may gladly pay homage to Baby-Killers-R-Us, Inc., but I will not. I recognize that abortion does not empower women; it enslaves them. Abortion is not freedom; it is violence. I look objectively and see that the abortion culture teaches young girls that sex is power and they are primarily “sexual beings”; it teaches them to let themselves be used and discarded by men, and to see their own child as the enemy of their lives. It makes it easy for men to use, abuse, and violate women, and get rid of the “evidence” of their abuse. It leaves women shouldering the entire burden of childbearing alone. It allows the scumbags to walk away, and it forces the good guys to stand powerless while their children are slaughtered.

Yeah, abortion has really done wonders for society. Men and women get along so much better now.

Who are you to say that women’s issues and women’s concerns can only be served by those who champion your boss’s commitment to abortion and contraception? I have news for you: families don’t flourish in an environment dominated by abortion and contraception. When human life has no value, families have no value. When the smallest and most vulnerable member of the family is extinguishable, the family crumbles.

Women do not rise to the heights of respect and achievement by literally sacrificing their own babies. Men do not come to cherish and appreciate women they can use for sex with no concern for the children they might help create. Men and women do not respect and honor each other when both are more interested in getting the pleasure they want without any obligation, self-sacrifice, or consequence. (Who’s got the real anti-woman agenda here?)

Affordable, available health care for all has nothing to do with contraception, sterilization, or abortion. That unholy trinity is not the grand summa of “women’s causes.” Frankly, women and families will be much better served by elected women who do not view fertility as a disease or pregnancy as a problem. Women and families will be protected by elected officials and public policies that don’t encourage promiscuity as a lifestyle and abortion as a solution.

The cause of women’s worth and dignity will never, ever be served by the abortion industry or by drugs that treat a woman’s body like a defective machine.

You and your boss have made your allegiance plain, and it’s not to women or families, or to freedom. You peddle animosity and fear alongside the Pills and abortions. You will gladly violate the rights of anyone who refuses to be ruled by mandates and edicts.

Let’s hear it for equal pay for equal work. Let’s have affordable, available health care for everyone. Let’s have an education system that actually educates, and let’s make college more affordable if we can. Absolutely! Let’s remember that the family is the first society, and the first government, and that children need and deserve a mother AND a father who are married to each other! Let’s honor the vocation of motherhood. Let’s try doing what we should, rather than what we want and what’s convenient. Most of all, we must annihilate the idea that it is morally acceptable to kill the child in the womb. We need to acknowledge the humanity of our own babies from the moment of conception and protect them from targeted killing. We need to get honest and stop calling it “reproductive choice”. We’re killing our kids.

Show me the woman who champions those causes, Ms. Schultz. She’s exactly the kind of woman we need on Capitol Hill. Give me a hundred women just like her, and then we’ll have real progress.

Obamacare and $1 Abortions: Latest Rule Requires an ‘Abortion Surcharge’

at Catholic Online

Shhhh…. President Obama’s got a little secret he doesn’t want you to know.

His administration just finalized another “rule” regarding Obamacare and the insurance exchange program: $1 abortions.

Forget all the promises Obama made about not subsidizing abortion; about people not having to pay for abortions if they didn’t want to. Forget all the speeches in which pro-lifers were ridiculed and hollered at for “lying” that Obamacare would fund abortions. Forget everything Nancy Pelosi and Kathleen Sebelius have said. Forget the Executive Order that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

From LifeNews.com:
“Nestled within the “individual mandate” in the Obamacare act — that portion of the Act requiring every American to purchase government-approved insurance or pay a penalty — is an ‘abortion premium mandate.” This mandate requires all persons enrolled in insurance plans that include elective abortion coverage to pay a separate premium from their own pockets to fund abortion. As a result, many pro-life Americans will have to decide between a plan that violates their consciences by funding abortion, or a plan that may not meet their health needs.”

Senator Ben Nelson helped engineer the accounting gimmick that this mandate will utilize — the compromise that enticed Stupak and others to bail on their commitment to Life and vote for Obamacare. Under this shell game, the government is not technically subsidizing abortions — you and I are by government mandate. This is how Obamacare attempts to get around the Hyde Amendment for now. The goal is to get rid of Hyde permanently, because then elective abortions will be covered by taxpayer funding.

Here’s how it will break down: Insurers will collect a $1 surcharge per month from each payer. If you write checks for your insurance premiums, you’ll have to write two checks; one for the premium cost, and a separate check for $1 for this “surcharge.” If it gets billed to your credit card, you’ll see two separate charges; one for the premium cost and one for $1.

The insurance companies may only disclose to the enrollee at the time of enrollment what the surcharge is for; thereafter, they are not permitted to reveal in any of their policy literature what the $1 is for. In addition, “insurance plans may only advertise the total cost of the premiums without disclosing that enrollees will be charged a $1 per month fee to directly subsidize abortions.

In other words, the government (that means Obama) is saying that your insurance company can only tell you what the $1 surcharge each month is for at the time you enroll, and only if you know enough already to ask them about it (since they can’t disclose the $1 charge) and read the pages of fine print which is the only place in your policy where it’s mentioned. Once you enroll, if you didn’t ask, Obama says they can’t tell you.

Is this your idea of freedom or choice? There’s no “opting out” if your plan covers elective abortions. You can’t refuse to pay the surcharge. Jill Stanek writes, “But if an insurance company participating in the Obamacare exchange program does offer elective abortions, everyone who buys insurance from that company will have to pay a $1 separate surcharge every month to cover the cost of abortions. It doesn’t matter if you are pro-life. It doesn’t matter if you’re a 72-yr-old woman who will never abort. You have to pay the $1 surcharge.”

Insurance companies participating in the exchange program do not have to provide elective abortion coverage, so my next question is, how many plans will be available that don’t offer abortion coverage? How limited will they be in number and in coverage?

It seems to me that, ironically, women will be the ones to swallow the double-edged sword here.  Will there even be such a thing as a plan that offers OB/GYN care but does not cover abortion?  Will women even have the option of choosing a plan that doesn’t cover elective abortion and thus the $1 surcharge?

After all, according to this administration, “women’s health care” now absolutely means contraception, abortifacients, sterilization, and abortion, without exception. That means that insurers will either provide complete “women’s health care” coverage or none at all. Surely they won’t be permitted to cover only some components of “women’s health care” and refuse others, right? It’s really not hard to see this one coming.  The contraceptive mandate was just laying the foundation for this demeaning and manufactured version of “women’s health care” that now regards fertility as a disease.

This President’s modus operandi has been deny, deny, accuse, deny some more. Lie. Mandate. Use accounting schemes to mislead and obfuscate. Violate Constitutional rights.  Cover-up and lie some more.

Will enough people protest? C’mon, it’s only $12 a year, right? And since it goes unnamed every month, it just happens in the background, almost hidden. Practically forgotten. It’s not called what it really is. Much the same way we don’t want to call abortion what it really is.

It ought to send chills down the spine to realize the lengths Obama has gone, and will continue to go, for the purpose of advancing abortion in the U.S.. He serves no master more than he serves abortion.

Some will think that’s too harsh or unjustified a statement to make about the President. What about respect for the Office, some will ask? I can only say that his actions are dishonest, dictatorial, and evil. He has revealed his true priorities, and they are deadly. He has demonstrated that no organization in America is more important to him than Planned Parenthood. Obama is going after states that try to defund Planned Parenthood by withholding their Medicaid funding. This man who claims to champion women’s health will gladly jeopardize real health care for women for the sake of protecting Planned Parenthood.

As a state senator, Obama voted against a bill identical to the federal Born Alive Infant Protection Act — a bill designed to make sure babies who survived the first attempt on their lives were not subjected to a second attempt but were given the medical care they needed. He voted in favor of infanticide, and did so with his customary verbosity so as to try and conceal the fact that he thought babies who survived an abortion didn’t require the care of a doctor who wasn’t just trying to kill them moments before. No amount of eloquent spin can hide that fact.

He is not a respectable leader. He doesn’t want to be the leader of a free republic — he wants to be King. He hands down mandates from on-high. Then he coerces private companies into withholding the truth and helping him deceive the American people.

And astonishingly, he still has the support of a great many Catholics. Still, many Americans think he is a good President who should be given a second term. He arrogantly tramples on fundamental Constitutional rights, and still people defend and applaud him. Those folks must enjoy the slavery of government dictates and control. They must enjoy being deceived and manipulated. It boggles the mind.

If Obamacare is not repealed or found unconstitutional, these rules go into effect in 2014. In just a few months, we have one last chance to stop all this and ensure that Barack Obama is a one-term President. If we reward his duplicity with four more years, then we will deserve every dishonest, dictatorial thing he will do with those years.

Women Star in the President’s Political Theater: Who’s Really Getting Played?

at Catholic Online

After Sandra Fluke’s testimony before Congress last week, two things became clear: 1) This controversy is political theater if I ever saw it, and 2) modern, secular “feminism” makes women stupid.

With a pen stroke and a press conference, President Obama used women to initiate a war on Religious freedom and with the media lapdogs panting at his heels, he made sure the Republicans, and especially the Catholic Church, were painted as misogynist zealots.

Ms. Fluke has become the latest player in a drama that President Obama has manufactured and fueled for his own political gain. Fluke, the Georgetown law student who’s actually an activist for Reproductive Justice, joined Nancy Pelosi, Kathleen Sebelius, Barbara Boxer, Cecile Richards (Planned Parenthood), Nancy Keenan (NARAL), and scores of other Congressional leaders and political activists who are bemoaning the trials of life without free birth control pills. With the President leading this contrived and fraudulent battle over “women’s health”, these so-called feminists have pinned women’s entire well-being to a package of pills and reduced women to just vaginas and uteruses.

Fluke, who was portrayed as a 23 year-old co-ed, is actually 30 years old and by her own admission chose to attend Georgetown precisely so she could battle their insurance policy since it does not cover contraceptives. What a handy witness she turned out to be last week on behalf of Obama’s contraception mandate. So important was she to Obama’s theater show that he personally called her to apologize for things Rush Limbaugh said on his program concerning her testimony.

Fluke testified that she and her classmates have to spend $3,000 during their time at Georgetown on contraception, and it’s simply an unbearable financial burden for them. If they paid top-dollar for birth control pills, that would be about $600 a year; $1,800 for three years. A box of condoms ranges from about $4.00 to $15.00. That’s maybe another $100 a year, but still nowhere close to $3,000.

To put this in perspective, I can sponsor two children through World Vision for less than $100 a month. That money actually helps feed, clothe and educate a child, and improve the lot of her community as well. So you can feed, clothe and shelter a child in a poverty-stricken country, or you can subsidize an Ivy-league college student’s sex life by buying her birth control.

To give you another perspective, consider what’s happening to active-duty military families and veteran retirees. Active-duty families will soon see their prescription costs increase while their access to civilian pharmacies shrinks. Military retirees are going to see their health insurance premiums skyrocket very soon, as Obamacare tries to force them off Tricare and onto one of the government exchange programs instead.

So while active-duty military families are paying more for all their prescriptions — medicines needed for actual illnesses — Ivy-league college co-eds simply MUST be provided with free birth control.

Meanwhile, unionized civilians health care benefits will be untouched. No additional costs for them, no sir. Protect union workers; ask military families to sacrifice even more. From whom much is already asked, even more will be required. Is this the new American way?

What Fluke and her peers need is not a legal education but a common sense, moral education. In about 30 minutes, they could all be taught how to manage their fertility without drugs, and their “birth control” would cost them absolutely nothing but self-control and mature decision-making. It’s called personal responsibility. And you know what? It’s very empowering!

In the real world, when you don’t have the money to pay for something you want, you do without it. Contraception is not food and water. It’s not electricity and shelter. It’s not a need at all. If Fluke wants birth control pills, fine, she can have them. She can also pay for them herself. No one is obligated to provide them for her.

This is the epitome of the entitlement society and mentality that we now live in. To insist that government or our employers must subsidize our sexual habits and behavior makes us officially the most selfish, lazy, immature, and embarrassing society America has ever seen.

Not to mention the most hypocritical. We demand the government stay out of our bedrooms while also demanding the government pay for our contraception. These modern “feminists” like Fluke will shout, “My body, my choice” and “stay out of my uterus” and most of all, “the Church has no right to tell me what to do with my body!” But now she is demanding that same government, that same Church must relieve her of the cost and responsibility for her own personal choices and bear the burden themselves.

Is this really the future of young American women? Do they really not have the brains to figure out that if they don’t have promiscuous, premarital sex, they don’t need to worry about paying for contraceptives? As an added bonus, they also won’t have to worry about STD’s and unwanted pregnancy. Why is that simple concept so hard to grasp?

It’s infuriating to me as a woman that this entire controversy is being played as a “war on women” and that this asinine contraceptive mandate is for the sake of “women’s health.” Artificial hormones bring with them serious risks for women and pose a real danger to women’s health. Pumping a woman’s — worse, a young girl’s still-growing body — full of these artificial hormones should not be anyone’s idea of the right way to take care of a woman’s health.

Fertility is not a disease. How insulting to suggest that women require artificial hormones, contraceptive devices, and abortion in order to be happy, healthy, and prosperous.

The language of this mandate and the rhetoric being used to defend it is insidious. Preventing pregnancy is equated with women’s health. Preventing children is equated with women’s well-being. Pregnancy = unhealthy and expensive. No pregnancy = healthy and cost-saving. Children have become the enemy. Children are now threatening, ominous dollar signs that we must strategically avoid.

This is really a mandate against life. What begins with pills in order to prevent pregnancy and save money will eventually become mandated abortions to eliminate children, especially disabled, “imperfect”, medically expensive ones. America is not immune to this progression. We’re submitting to it right now, and modern, secular “feminists” are leading the way.

The “feminists” swear that this is all about protecting women and their choices, blah blah blah. Baloney. The irony they don’t get is this mandate only further puts the responsibility of pregnancy and children totally on women, leaving men with nothing to do but use women for their sexual gratification and then walk away. Train the guys well to make sure their girlfriend is on the Pill so he can get what he wants, and then when the contraceptives fail, she can walk into Planned Parenthood where they’ve been waiting for her and she can get “her problem” taken care of. Teach those young boys now that girls are just vaginas with a pretty face.

Greater access to contraceptives does not prevent unplanned pregnancy.   Just the opposite. If people think they can have worry-free, consequence-free sex, they have more sex more often with more partners. And since contraception fails, more pregnancies result.

Face it; Cecile Richards doesn’t love this mandate because she wants to reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies. She doesn’t want to put herself out of business. She loves this mandate because she knows that it will bring her more business. More promiscuous sexual activity means more STD’s and more pregnancies. And those “unwanted” babies will need to be gotten rid of for the sake of the woman’s future, so Cecile and company will be there holding the doors open to their abortion mills, happily counting their cash.

President Obama has created this contraception brouhaha for the express purpose of getting women in a tizzy before November. He plans to stoke the fire even further at Barnard College in NY, where he just made himself the commencement speaker.

“Word of Mr. Obama’s appearance at Barnard, a 123-year-old women’s college in New York City, comes as the White House and Democrats have seized on Republican attempts to block a requirement for contraception coverage in the new health care law, saying it amounts to a “war on women.”
Democrats believe the issue could be an effective rallying point with women voters in a presidential election year, and the decision to appear at the prestigious women’s school could provide a high-profile forum for the president on that front.”

He called and invited himself, displacing Jill Abramson from the NY Times, who was already scheduled to give the commencement speech.

Whatever else he talks about in his speech, it ought to be alarmingly clear that this President is not interested in freedom.  Barack Obama doesn’t want to be the leader of a free republic. He wants to be King. He wants to be the Sovereign. He doesn’t govern or lead — he simply issues mandates from on-high. So what if our Constitution guarantees the Freedom of Religion? He’s been telling us for years now that it’s really just the “Freedom of worship”, and if it gets in the way of his dictatorial edicts, well, then to hell with it.

C’mon ladies, wake up and stop being used and played for political points. This contraception theater show is insulting and women deserve better.
