March for LIFE 2013

This past December our nation’s President stood before a town brought to ruin with violence and grief and asked them, “Can we honestly say we’re doing enough to keep our children — all of them — safe from harm?… Are we really prepared to say the violence visited on our children year after year after year is somehow the price of our freedom?”

No, Mr. Obama, we’re not.  We’re not doing enough to keep our children safe from harm.  Not by a long shot.  And we’re certainly not prepared to say the violence visited upon our children is the price of our freedom.  The question is, why are YOU?  Why are YOU so willing to tolerate, yes even celebrate, promote, and PAY FOR the violence visited upon our tiniest children every single day in our country?

Enough.  40 years of violence is TOO DAMN MUCH.  Enough!  Stop the killing.  Today.

President Obama, You’re Right: Our First Job is to Protect All Our Children

at Catholic Online

Sandy hook victims

President Obama,

I have been one of your most severe critics for the last five years, and I make no apologies for it. But today I wanted to tell you in all sincerity that your speech to the community of Newtown on Sunday, December 16th was quite moving, heartfelt, thoughtful, and most of all, amazingly ironic.

I wonder if you yourself have even grasped the irony, and the profound meaning of your own words.

I pray with sincere pleading to God that this horrific, unimaginable slaughter of innocents in Newtown will prick your conscience and convict your heart of the other horrific slaughter of innocents that happens every single day in the United States; one in which you are an active participant and advocate: the killing of children in the womb by abortion.

You said in your speech:

“This is our first task, caring for our children. It’s our first job. If we don’t get that right, we don’t get anything right. That’s how, as a society, we will be judged.
And by that measure, can we truly say, as a nation, that we’re meeting our obligations?
Can we honestly say that we’re doing enough to keep our children, all of them, safe from harm?”

Well, Mr. Obama, the answer is an unequivocal “NO.” We most certainly are not doing enough to keep our children, ALL OF THEM, safe from harm. And yes, as a society, we most certainly ARE being judged by God.

You are quite right to say that if we don’t get our first job — caring for our children — right, we don’t get anything right. I couldn’t have said it better myself. And we’re not getting our first job right by a long shot.

In fact, we’re sacrificing our babies on a daily basis, and spilling their blood in the name of our “choice” and “freedom.” We’ve decided that our children must pay for our wants, our conveniences, our progress, our success, our liberation with their very own lives. They must die so that we can live as we wish.

Last Friday, a very disturbed man with a rifle gunned down 26 souls in cold blood. Do not deceive yourself into thinking that such reprehensible violence is truly shocking to us in America, or that we haven’t the ability to stomach it, look the other way, and even justify it. We can, and we do it every day.

We simply prefer our violence cloaked in the disguise of “rights” and “reproductive freedom”. Call it something other than what it really is, and suddenly it’s not an abhorrent crime — it’s a thing worthy of celebration and defense.

Every one of those 26 souls murdered in Newtown began their human life in the womb. The deaths of every tiny soul murdered in the womb are just as tragic as the little ones killed in Newtown.  It’s just that their deaths don’t make the headlines, and the photos of their tiny faces aren’t showered with affectionate tears.

Yet they are human beings, ALL. They are our children, ALL. Not only do we not protect them from harm, we gladly send them to be slaughtered and inflict the harm ourselves.Human foetus in the womb, artwork

If we want to discover the root of our society’s sickness, and find the cure for the rage and violence that is rearing its putrid head all over the nation, we are wasting our time if we do not honestly acknowledge the actual, literal blood on our own hands.

We have not only invited the beast of violence to feast on our children, we prepare the meal every single day.

We will never have peace again in the United States until we stop slaughtering our own babies. We will never be free of violence and rampage and horrific scenes like the one in Newtown until we decide that every child — including the child in the womb — is OUR child and we must do our first job and care for them all.

Mr. Obama, I am praying that you will decide today that what you said in your speech is absolutely true. We’re not doing right by our children, all of them. We have to do better. It must start with the child in the womb.

If you continue to deny the humanity of that child, then there is no value to the life of any child. There cannot be. Once a person is devalued at his or her weakest and most vulnerable moment, then all respect for life is lost. We need you to see the illogic and the insanity of your support for abortion, and to cease in advocating for the legalized child-killing we call “choice.”

The blood of our children cries out from the ground, Mr. Obama, and not only in Newtown. It is on your own hands. Whether that changes is entirely up to you. Let your heart be changed. I pray that your mind and your spirit will be pierced with the Light of Truth, especially this coming week as we celebrate the birth of Emmanuel, God With Us.

He came and shattered the barrier between mortal and Immortal; between Heaven and earth. He took on human flesh, and that means He began His human journey as that ‘clump of cells” we like to dismiss and destroy in our obsession with “rights.” His Majesty was hidden in a zygote. Was He any less God? Any less human? Are you willing to say His humanity was only realized upon His birth in Bethlehem?

Now is the time for you to stop and truly think. Stop denying the truth. Open your eyes, Mr. Obama. Our children — ALL OF THEM — are waiting for you to take action to protect them from harm.

What kind of nation requires its babies to die for the sake of the adults? That is what America has become, and if that is what we choose to remain, then we no longer deserve any freedom at all. Indeed, we no longer deserve the blessing of God.

Peace be with you and your family this Christmas. I pray that in 2013 you will work to restore peace to our nation by hastening the day when we will no longer slaughter our own children. The child in the womb is counting on your protection.

The Church Remains

Try all you want, Obama.  Try all you want, secular America.  Go ahead — knock yourself out.  You will not destroy my Church.

Nation of Fools

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.

It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President.”
Congratulations, fools.  You got your man.  Hold out your wrists for the shackles you asked for.

Corrupted Women Take the Stage at DNC: Abortion is Not a Woman’s Prize

at Catholic Online

The Democratic National Convention will be featuring their favorite female “stars” this week. Cecile Richards, Nancy Keenan, Sandra Fluke, Kathleen Sebelius, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, and yes, Michelle Obama. They will be used to highlight this administration’s “commitment to women’s rights and health.” They will stand front and center as advocates of the only man who really understands them or cares about their needs. They’ll be hailed by the media as the true American woman.

Well, I can’t tiptoe around the truth. I say with as much kindness as possible that they are corrupt. They are corrupt because they have united themselves with the ultimate corruption and made it their prized possession.

Abortion is nothing new or modern, but only in our modern age has it been elevated to the status of a “right” and sold as a necessary tool of liberation for women. Only we, of all of civilization’s women, have cemented into our law the expectation that women must be allowed to kill their own sons and daughters. We’ve befriended something insidious.

As Blessed Teresa of Calcutta warned us, “If a mother can kill her own baby, what is left but for me to kill you and you to kill me?” There is no further line to be crossed once we have severed what should be the inviolate bond between mother and child. Now there is violence in the sacred space that should be — needs to be — the most protected habitat in the universe.

Go back to the Garden of Eden for a moment. Forget the nonsense of Eve being the “weaker sex”, or more easily deceived. You think that’s why Satan picked her to go after first? I say baloney. Satan is no fool. He did not go after Eve first because he thought she’d be an easy target. She was the chief target, the greatest threat. He wanted to destroy the human person, and the most sure-fire way to achieve that, not just with those first two, but with every human being til the end of time, was to cripple the foundation. Eve was the foundation.

Satan went after the strongest link in the chain of all of humankind — Eve — the mother of all the living. God had given her something He did not give Adam. Only with Eve did He share His glorious ability to create new life. The strength of the human race lies with those who are the life-givers; therefore, the best way to sustain continuous destruction and evil amid the human race is to corrupt the life-givers. Eve’s downfall meant the poisonous seed was planted permanently in the soil from which every other human soul would come.

It was efficient, tidy, genius, and impossible to undo without Divine intervention. Once that was accomplished, Adam was easy. (The Redemption would come through another woman. As the human chain was weakened through Eve, it would be strengthened again through Mary and her humble obedience to God.  The early Church fathers call her the “Second Eve.”)

Now our century has seen women (and as a result the men have followed) turn an act of violence into their “birthright”, if you’ll pardon the irony. With all the inherent force that their life-giving nature endows, modern women have turned the womb into enemy territory, and as a result they’re literally laying waste to the human person.

Abortion corrupts a woman in a way it can never corrupt a man. Men are indeed irrevocably harmed by abortion and by the loss of their children. Men suffer deep and lasting wounds, but in different ways and at a different level than women. Abortion strikes clear to the core of a woman because a woman’s God-given nature is to create, sustain, nurture, and protect new life. Whether a woman ever gives birth is irrelevant. It is still a woman’s essential make-up to bring forth new life into the world. God designed us that way.

When the nature that gives life and creates new life with the help of God turns on herself, comes to despise herself enough to do violence to herself and her own child, the corruption is unleashed.

A Legacy of Death

We are seeing that complete corruption take center stage as the premiere example of what “womanhood” now means in America. The women being presented as models of success, intelligence, talent, and accomplishment are all women who glory in the mass slaughter of babies in the womb. They celebrate the blood of innocent children as proof of their liberation and progress. They demand the continued “freedom” to kill the child in the womb at will, without restriction, without question, and without any moral quandary. Oh, and subsidized by you and me.

They cheerfully embrace with both arms a legacy of death and a continuing promise of more death. They are as blind and corrupt and lost as a woman can be.

Tuesday night HHS Secretary Katheen Sebelius said one thing I have to agree with. She said this November, our choice is “between a nation whose politics play on our worst fears and a nation whose laws reflect the best of our values.”

I’m so sick of the cowardice and dishonesty of people like Sebelius and after tonight, the entire Democrat party. If you’re going to fight for something, then by God, say what it is you’re fighting for. Say it out loud and say it directly. Quit the code-speak. Get up on that stage and say, “The best of our values in America means ensuring that killing a baby in the womb is legal, without restriction, without exception, until the moment of delivery. And it means the taxpayers must pay for this child-killing whether they like it or not.”

Sebelius is right that it really is a choice about what we value in America, and what we defend. Right now, America is a nation that does not defend her most vulnerable citizens. Right now, America is a nation that prides itself on making womb executions “safe, legal, and”… whoops, I forgot — they don’t want them to be “rare” anymore.

Right now America is a nation that dehumanizes the child in the womb in order to destroy that child. Today America is a nation that spends billions of dollars killing tiny babies and celebrates it as enlightened morality. We are a nation where a baby who survives an abortion attempt can still be left to die and even actively killed. Those are Obama’s values. Those are the values of America today, based on our laws.

So get up on that convention stage and admit it. Stop talking about reproductive rights, and choices, and family planning, and women’s health, and stake your abortion claim in plain language. Get up there and admit that the only woman Obama considers legitimate is a woman who thinks it’s a good and necessary thing to kill the child in the womb. Get up there, all of you and admit that the only women in America who should matter at all are the ones who support unfettered abortion on demand at taxpayer expense. I dare you.

You Don’t Speak for Me

It is unspeakably infuriating as a woman to watch Obama and his party of death present the pro-abortion woman as the ideal American woman; as the only acceptable American woman; as the representation of all American women. I’ve got news for you. Your idea of womanhood is utterly repulsive and corrupt. Your idea of freedom and progress for women is utterly grotesque. You do not speak for me, and you certainly do not represent anything that I value.

The current values and laws of America are also repulsive to me. It is shameful that the nation that was birthed on the divine idea that all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with the unalienable right to Life is now a nation that greedily devours its own young like the most perverse monster.

Only cowards and tyrants enact laws to permit a helpless child to be killed at will because an adult “chooses.” Only cowards and tyrants hide their violence behind euphemisms and sophistry, and pander to “women’s rights”, cloaked in the rhetoric of “health care.”

Men and women of honor protect their children, born and unborn. Men and women of honor give their lives for their children — they do not take their child’s life for their own. Men and women of honor make sacrifices for their children — they do not make sacrifices of their children.

This election is indeed about choices and about American values. How much longer will America remain a nation that values the “right” to kill the child in the womb? How much longer will America deny the humanity of that child?

We ask, rightly so, how the Holocaust could have happened during WWII. How is it possible that such mass murder could take place, such evil show itself and yet people did nothing to stop it?

How is it that over a million American babies are killed every year and yet not only do we not stop it, we campaign and legislate its protected status as a “right”??

The Official Party of Abortion

Nancy Keenan of NARAL said in her speech that she and her cohorts are proud that the Democratic party believes “women have the right to choose a safe, legal abortion with dignity…” The abortion industry believes there is dignity is tearing a child from the womb. They believe it is dignified to kill a child. That, folks, is the definition of corruption.

Sebelius ended her speech by saying that Obama “is a leader with uncommon compassion and courage…” Yes, this is the man who believes it is an unreasonable burden on a woman’s original decision to have a second physician come and see that the baby who survived the attempt on his/her life is actually cared for and not discarded like trash or finished off. How very compassionate is infanticide!

The new platform embraced by the Democratic party now endorses “safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay.” The values of the Democratic party and Obama mean that baby-killing must be “safe”, legal and paid for using taxpayer dollars. Sick and tyrannical is the government that considers killing a defenseless baby something “safe” and insists on subsidizing the slaughter! This is the America and the “American values” that Obama and his gaggle of corrupt women want to perpetuate and then export around the world.

I asked once before, and I’ll ask again now: Women of virtue, where are you? There is not another second to lose. RISE. The foundation of our society must be rebuilt. Ladies, it starts with us. When the womb and the child within are sacred once again, only then will our nation be restored.

Um, Cardinal Dolan, You Know What You’re Doing, Right?

at Catholic Online

Dear Cardinal Dolan,

Well, you’ve had an interesting week, haven’t you? I thought rather than talking about you I’d talk to you. Who am I? Nobody special, just a daughter of the Church. Just an Army wife, a homeschooling mom raising three kids, and an American citizen who’s very worried about her country.

You, on the other hand, are a breath of fresh air for the Church in America. You are the embodiment of the courage, enthusiasm, joy, and faith we need now more than ever. Your election to the head of the Bishop’s conference was music to my ears. It gave me great hope in many ways. God has not forsaken us here in the U.S.A., even though we’ve forsaken Him. He has given us you in this critical hour. I know I’m not alone here — any Catholic who’s paying any attention at all is grateful for all you’ve done.

I want to thank you for the leadership you’ve provided. I want to thank you for having a spine. Thank you for your forthrightness and fidelity. Thank you for fighting and defending and teaching and admonishing and for doing it all with your unbeatable smile. You’re a big bear — part teddy and part grizzly. It’s exactly what we need, so don’t ever change.

When this story of the Al Smith Catholic charities dinner first came to light my first thought was that the reporter had his facts messed up. I thought, “There’s no way Cardinal Dolan invited him!” Then came some disbelief, then an out loud, “What?!?” when I learned it was true.

The firing squad quickly took aim at you, and the Catholic blogosphere was soon crackling with a lot of angry Catholics who could not fathom why our Church leaders were inviting the worst President in history to dinner.

In my own small circle, I tried to encourage folks to take a deep breath and not rush to join in the condemnation. Cardinal Dolan, I said, has never given us a reason to doubt his strength or his loyalty. Let’s give this a chance and see what comes of it.

But I have to admit, I’m not crazy about it either  The whole thing makes me nervous, to say the least.

The man sitting in the White House does not behave like a President, so I won’t call him that. He wants to be king, and he acts like a tyrant, so from now on, I will refer to him as the tyrantking. He is the enemy of life and freedom in America. I don’t think anyone can dispute that assessment. I think he is a wolf who barely bothers to put his wool on anymore.

He is the enemy of Catholicism, as far as I’m concerned. He uses the Church to cover his behind and give his evil policies some sort of legitimacy, thanks to apostates like Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, Kathleen Sebelius, and thanks to the inexplicable Fr. John Jenkins. (Why is he still the president of a Catholic university, by the way??)

After this last year and the all-out assault he has waged on religious freedom and the child in the womb; after his pathetic and manufactured “war on women” that revolves around contraception; and after all you have said and done to stand up to him and lead the Church in the battle to defend what is right, why why why do we have to invite the guy to dinner for drinks and a few laughs??

As of this moment, Catholics in America must decide whether to violate Church teaching and their own conscience, or whether to disobey the HHS mandate and risk their business and livelihood. The war is ON, and we’re gonna tell jokes and have a good time with the tyrant behind the oppression?  Seriously?

Your Eminence, please tell me you have an ace up your sleeve. Please tell me there’s more to this that the rest of us just don’t know about yet. Please tell me you haven’t taken leave of your good senses.

In my head, the conversation is going something like this:
Cardinal Dolan is no idiot. True. This ain’t his first rodeo. True again. He’s certainly no Obama sycophant. Very true. He must have a good reason for doing this. I sure hope so. But c’mon, really? Are we suddenly no longer fighting for our lives against this guy and his evil policies?  Exactly…  This will end badly with one opportune photo, and Obama will milk it for all it’s worth right through the election. Yep. Okay Jesus, I trust in You. Please prove me wrong about this.

I’m waiting anxiously to hear what your thoughts are about this whole mess. Please reassure your worried sheep that you’ve looked at this from all sides and all is well.

I beg you, please promise me that you won’t gift the tyrantking two weeks before the election with a snazzy picture of you with your gregarious smile and him with his cocky grin. You know that’s what he wants — a snapshot to tell the country, “See? I love the Church and they love me! There’s no problem here! Vote for me!”

Your Eminence, we all know the stakes could not be higher this November. The last thing we need is to allow any confusion at all about the reality of what the tyrantking is doing to annihilate religious freedom in America. Now is definitely not the time to muddy the message about the Church’s opposition and resistance to his mandates and his abortion-obsessed agenda. The hidden blessing in all that Obama has done so far is that it has ignited Catholics and other people of faith and brought a unity that wasn’t there before. We can’t afford to squander that now. But surely no one knows that better than you.

You are the Cardinal, not me (obviously). You’re not where you are by accident or stroke of luck, but by the design of our mighty and loving God. I respect your authority, and even though I don’t see how this will end well, I choose to believe the best of you and your decision.

I will be praying that God gives you keen insight and wisdom, as well as courage to fight the good fight. I will trust the Holy Spirit to guide you and use you for the glory of God and the good of His Church.

And if a few sheep like me bleat on and on about what a colossal mistake it could be, well, pray for us . I, for one, will be delighted to admit I was worried for nothing.

I’m sure that’s the big difference between you and me. You’re a shepherd. Your job is to seek lost sheep and lead them home. Maybe your heart’s desire in all of this is a chance to try once more to get a certain very lost sheep to follow a different road. Most days it’s all I can do to just wish him well and want him gone from the White House. This “love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you” stuff is crazy, you know?

Maybe you are, too. Crazy like a fox. I guess we’ll find out.

In the meantime, lead the way, Smiling Cardinal. I’m still with you.  With respect and gratitude.

Memo to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz: Right Kind of Woman Champions Life, not Contraception

at Catholic Online

I’m the wrong kind of woman. I guess I always knew it, and now it’s official. According to the decree of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, if ever I were to run for public office and be elected, it would not be a victory for women because I’m not the right kind of woman. Women like me don’t count at all. For anything. In fact, women like me are a detriment to the cause and must be kept out of public influence.

“I think we have to be cautious about who is, you know, just celebrating that a woman got elected to a particular office and make sure that we have women who are running and winning who are going to champion the causes of women — who are going to make the agenda that is important to women like equal pay for equal work and making sure that when it comes to fighting for middle class families and ensuring access to birth control and making sure that health care is a priority and that it’s affordable, making sure that access to education and higher education is a priority.”

“So, electing just any woman shouldn’t be the goal. Electing a woman who is going to make the issues important to women and families is really should be the focus and I don’t know if we made as much progress on that as we should.”

“It’s just so hard for me to grasp how they [Republicans] can be as anti-woman as they are,” she said, according to the Weekly Standard. “I think that the pushback and the guttural reaction from women against the Republicans’ agenda out of the gate, the war on women that the Republicans have been waging since they took over the House, I think is not only going to restore but help us exceed the president’s margin of victory in the next election.”

(At this point, I must attempt to restrain myself because believe me, I have some choice words for Ms. Schultz.)

Cut the crap, Ms. Schultz. This isn’t about fighting for middle class families or higher education. It’s about abortion and contraception, period. The code embedded in your little speech is about as subtle as a flashing neon sign: the only woman you want on Capitol Hill or any hill anywhere is a pro-abortion, Pill-pushing woman. The “feminist” agenda demands perfect worship at the altar of abortion. You know it and I know it. Planned Parenthood is your clubhouse.

The “progress” you seek is quite simply the reduction of women to available vaginas and sterile uteruses that welcome knives, scissors, forceps and vacuums as instruments of “freedom” when the obligatory prevention fails.

You don’t speak for me, Ms. Schultz. Your agenda is repugnant to me, and your ideas of progress for women are insulting to me. There are many, many women who feel as I do, and we are deserving of representation in Congress and state governments, and we vote. We are not a hindrance to women’s success or growth or rights. We think the girl in the womb is deserving of life and liberty, too. Why don’t you?

Equal pay for equal work has absolutely nothing to do with propping up Planned Parenthood and forcing people to subsidize contraception for every woman in America. Guess what? I don’t need your Pills or your condoms or your sterilizations. And I refuse to pay for any of that for anyone else. How ironic that while you’re stomping your foot demanding “choices” for women you want to deprive me of mine by mandating that I buy someone else’s birth control and pay for abortions.

Why must women’s sexual choices be subsidized by everyone else? How does that promote women’s independence? What happened to freedom? Didn’t anyone ever tell you that freedom isn’t free?

You and your boss may gladly pay homage to Baby-Killers-R-Us, Inc., but I will not. I recognize that abortion does not empower women; it enslaves them. Abortion is not freedom; it is violence. I look objectively and see that the abortion culture teaches young girls that sex is power and they are primarily “sexual beings”; it teaches them to let themselves be used and discarded by men, and to see their own child as the enemy of their lives. It makes it easy for men to use, abuse, and violate women, and get rid of the “evidence” of their abuse. It leaves women shouldering the entire burden of childbearing alone. It allows the scumbags to walk away, and it forces the good guys to stand powerless while their children are slaughtered.

Yeah, abortion has really done wonders for society. Men and women get along so much better now.

Who are you to say that women’s issues and women’s concerns can only be served by those who champion your boss’s commitment to abortion and contraception? I have news for you: families don’t flourish in an environment dominated by abortion and contraception. When human life has no value, families have no value. When the smallest and most vulnerable member of the family is extinguishable, the family crumbles.

Women do not rise to the heights of respect and achievement by literally sacrificing their own babies. Men do not come to cherish and appreciate women they can use for sex with no concern for the children they might help create. Men and women do not respect and honor each other when both are more interested in getting the pleasure they want without any obligation, self-sacrifice, or consequence. (Who’s got the real anti-woman agenda here?)

Affordable, available health care for all has nothing to do with contraception, sterilization, or abortion. That unholy trinity is not the grand summa of “women’s causes.” Frankly, women and families will be much better served by elected women who do not view fertility as a disease or pregnancy as a problem. Women and families will be protected by elected officials and public policies that don’t encourage promiscuity as a lifestyle and abortion as a solution.

The cause of women’s worth and dignity will never, ever be served by the abortion industry or by drugs that treat a woman’s body like a defective machine.

You and your boss have made your allegiance plain, and it’s not to women or families, or to freedom. You peddle animosity and fear alongside the Pills and abortions. You will gladly violate the rights of anyone who refuses to be ruled by mandates and edicts.

Let’s hear it for equal pay for equal work. Let’s have affordable, available health care for everyone. Let’s have an education system that actually educates, and let’s make college more affordable if we can. Absolutely! Let’s remember that the family is the first society, and the first government, and that children need and deserve a mother AND a father who are married to each other! Let’s honor the vocation of motherhood. Let’s try doing what we should, rather than what we want and what’s convenient. Most of all, we must annihilate the idea that it is morally acceptable to kill the child in the womb. We need to acknowledge the humanity of our own babies from the moment of conception and protect them from targeted killing. We need to get honest and stop calling it “reproductive choice”. We’re killing our kids.

Show me the woman who champions those causes, Ms. Schultz. She’s exactly the kind of woman we need on Capitol Hill. Give me a hundred women just like her, and then we’ll have real progress.
